Our Farm

Our first encounter with Arabian horses was in 1999 while looking for a gelding to be used as a family trail horse. When good friends David & Lori Escobar invited us to see their new Arabian colt, we were absolutely smitten. He had the most astounding personality, poking his head through the stall gate to be scratched and preferring to hang out with us rather than his mother. I had been around many breeds of horses in my lifetime but had never seen a foal so naturally friendly. He was only a few days old but we bought him on the spot. At 4 months of age, he (& his dam) came to live with us and our lives would forever be changed.We named him Legend of Khouraj and as he grew, his wonderful disposition was only exceeded by his amazing quality and conformation. After much pedigree research we realized that he was an outcross to most of the popular lines that were being bred in the Arabian horse industry. When his first foal (Khouraja) hit the ground, we scratched our plan to geld him and he became the center of our new breeding program.

In the short period of time we have owned, bred, trained, and shown Arabian horses, Arabians by Colangelo at StarView farm has been fortunate enough to have made our mark on the industry. Legend of Khouraj has an extensive show record on the Class A, Regional, National, & World Cup level. To date, he has been the only stallion to have a Supreme National Champion title (Sport Horse) and a Res Champion Arabian Breeder’s World Cup title (Halter).

Arabians by Colangelo at StarView Farm bred what we like to refer to as the “Ultimate Arabian.”—tall, leggy, athletic individuals with big, rock hard feet, substance of bone, length of neck, and short backed, balanced bodies. Huge liquid eyes were a must in our program and pretty faces are important but not at the expense of conformation and athletic movement! Most prominent breeders will tell you that a beautiful face is the easiest quality to breed, but it is balance and structure that take the most time & effort!

As a sire, Legend has been phenomenal! His first foal, the beautiful, Khouraja (bred by our program), is a multi-Champion, including a Res Champion mare title (Halter) at the prestigious Arabian Breeders World Cup in April of 2009. Khouraja now belongs to Al Shaqab Stud in Doha, Qatar. Legend’s daughter, Lidy won Res National Champion title (SHIH) as a 2 year old at the 2007 Arabian and Half Arabian Sport Horse Nationals.Legend’s maternal half brothers, Metal of Honour (bred by our family & the Escobars) & Jaleel ABC (bred by our program), have gone on to make their own mark.

Metal of Honour, a Halter & Sport Horse Champion has sired several beautiful Half Arabian/Half Appaloosa foals for us including the gorgeous 2 time National Top Ten Half Arabian leopard mare, Lady Gaga ABC. Metal of Honour is now the main attraction at his new home in the Dominican republic and (to date) has bred 14 plus mares for his owner. Jaleel ABC was a Res Champion in his futurity class at the 2008 Egyptian Event and was Res Champion at the same show again in 2014. He also is making his mark as a sire with the very beautiful grey Straight Egyptian fillies, Zaharaa ABC & Safiah ABC. His son, Malik Ibn Jaleel sired the lovely, charismatic filly, Danica ABC, before being exported to the country of Panama.

Before Khouraja’s departure, she blessed us with Marciano ABC whose sire is the astounding Multi World & Multi International Champion and super sire, Marwar Al Shaqab. Marciano ABC is a 2 time Regional Top Five Champion & the Supreme Champion at the 2012 SAHIBA Spring Arabian Show. He has sired the stunning Half Arabian/Half Appaloosa colts—Marwan Brando ABC, Khonstellation ABC & Aston Marwan ABC. Our life with the Arabian horse has been quite an adventure.
